  1. Thanks for all the great work-I just ordered my copies. I know they will take awhile to get here to the USA but I can’t wait. I will be ordering on iTunes as well since I’m so psyched! Best regards with the launch to everybody in Level 42. I know you all worked very hard to get here. Glad to be on the receiving end. Cheers!!!

  2. 50 odd days to chrimbo….Not cos it’s arrived early with 42’s new release ordered. Ps Best tell the Mrs to expect some loud stuff on the horizon. Cheers Chaps,
    Kev.

  3. Thank you so much level 42. Downloaded it from iTunes this morning and I was beaming on my commute into London. I absolutely love these tracks. This is why I followed you for thirty years. Got home and cd arrived. Love to you all x

  4. Downloaded the EP this morning from iTunes then bingo! The EP arrived in the post. I love the new songs, brilliant musicianship all round. Is ther any chance you can post the lyrics though ??

  5. One Question, How soon is the Vinyl going to be released? I want to place only one order for both the CD and the Vinyl, Thanks!! Let me know if the CD release is limited so if I need to order it now, I will do so. Thanks Again 🙂

  6. This is a truly terrible release. The mix is distorted in places – why? Very naff club style drum loops – why? They have a perfectly good drummer. Silly lyrics, and dare I say it, half written songs. I’m extremely disappointed. A missed opportunity as the title track had potential. Ho humm.

  7. aaaahhh Mastitis Warrior – fun though ain’t it? I like silly lyrics. You are one of the few that doesn’t like it. ‘Mind on you’ is just an aural treat – heaven, that drum solo at the end then the bass kicks in – heaven, bloody heaven. I love Level 42 more than ever . Better than curry and my gf would divorce me now if she were lucky enough to be married to me cos its been on non stop, in the car, kitchen, study etc

  8. Just listening on spotify to Sirens album, is it Cool man?,Yeah. Did`nt take Seven years, Seven days, or seconds to decide if I liked it, there is Something about you guys, when you Weave your Spell, that is All i need. You really are One in a million, thought I would Take a look at the Lft website, it didn’t take Too much time to order the album. Im going to be Rooted for Hours by the window, (certainly not Staring at the sun in this heavy weather), waiting for the postman. Sooner or later it will arrive, and I`ll be Guaranteed to be holding Heaven In My Hands, A physical presence, its going to be a Lovely day. it will say Play me, I`ll go to my hifi and Turn it on. I don’t know why, but listening to Lft`s music All around will Set me up for the day. This is a brilliant album, absolutely love it, Are you hearing what I hear?. Can`t wait for the next round of tour dates, To be with you again. Sorry about the cheese its sent With a little love, to all of you People. anyway, I`m Almost there, just Three words to finish off, It`s over(remix).

  9. Great album with nice sound. I can not stop listening to it. The music are a bit like the old Shakatak with short lyrics. Congratulations with this new album. There could have been more tracks on it like Free Your Soul and others 🙂

  10. Loving Sirens – I’m right back at Barney’s under 18 disco on a Wednesday night. My Independance Day is superb – always good when Mike and Mark share lead vocals. Hoping Rocket will be featured in the next Bond movie somewhere. Mind on You, is a great club track, could dance to this forever. All good funky stuff. Waiting patiently for the vinyl – hoping lyrics will be included. Thank you! xx

  11. I’m a fan since 1986, avid collector, bass player, etc etc. I have been waiting for these Sirens just as long as anyone here, and I have been sure hoping it would be better than Retroglide.

    Well…

I still love Level 42 (I always will) and I still have big respect to Morgan Roussel for his support, but let’s be honest for a few seconds. Though it’s not absolute crap, the 6 tracks here are seriously not good. The “rap-like” blablah on Sirens sucks, there is only loops, no real chorus or strong musical structure, the bass is good but the electronic house music drumming is real shite (and such a shame when you have Pete Biggin at hand). The lyrics are impossible to decipher (and it’s usually not such a good sign), etc etc etc…

As someone said before, there was such a potential in these tracks, I can’t help but be sad about it.

And, in my humble opinion, the graphic design of the cover is really, really bad. I mean, REALLY bad. one of the absolute worst I’ve seen. A shame, especially coming from the band that once asked Neville Brody to design a record (Standing in the light).

Of course, I still love the band, I still listen to the new tracks from time to time, I just ordered 3 DVDs from them and I am planning to go and see them live anytime soon. Fan forever.

    But… Seriously disappointed fan.

  12. Been with 42 since the start & as it say’s on the sleeve “we’ve come full circle”. Sounds about right if you ask me. Nuff said!

  13. Great EP, no doubt about it. Good sounds, sounds 2013.

But uh is this not what Phil Gould meant when he left because he wanted to go back to basics instead of commercial? We do not know the real insides off course but that’s what I understood at the time.

    Maybe reunion? 😉

  14. Well what a great birthday I am having today.
    My copy of Sirens arrived!!!!
Great stuff and what a great voice Marlee King has too.
Looking forward to the next gig – whenever that may be.
In the meantime, enjoy the break guys.

  15. @davidrault Sadly spot on I’m afraid. The only reason ‘..Independence…’ is any good is because of it’s close resemblance to the old Donna Summer tune.

There are also some serious mastering issues too – again. Does no one actually check them before production? Very shoddy.

    Yep, the cover is appalling.

    Amateur hour folks.

    Still love ’em though.

  16. Reunion? No need. The band has moved on and it’s been 25+ years since the original line up and the current band is excellent. As for PRB – top top drummer, and long may he remain in the band.

  17. Love the EP, by the way, very funky. I agree with the comments on the drum loops though.

That said Sirens is a great tune and will be a L42 classic. I look forward to seeing these songs live and hopefully an future album with ‘un’mixed versions.

    More PRB fewer drum loops!

  18. Here we go again with the negative brigade, this band is bloody marvellous, this new material is so cool, its level 42 for goodness sake,. Wingeing about drum loops, my word!!. Drum loops have been used to good effect by many bands,. as I have already said, this is level 42, who have used a wide range of electronic effects since inception, both in the studio and then live, these are instruments for the artist to use,. If drum loops are not allowed, that means Wally and Mike using their electronic wizardry, would be less than musical by your reckoning,. Anyway PRB (Who I have met on a few occasions, including Metropolis, and is a really nice guy), as A musician, I`m sure understands the use of effect,. He (is) on the Album, and so is Mike, thankfully,. Level 42 have been wonderfully uniquely diverse, jazzy, funky, groovy, country, haha, and have rocked the pop world, both progressive and now wonderfully regressive using the advances of digital music production, Get a grip!,Get a grip, Get a Grip, Get a grip, Get a grip,. whoops sorry I turned my loop machine on, (all rights reserved, Alan LFT UK). Anyway for all you kiddies who didn’t get the early Christmas present that they wanted,,,Bah,Humbug!!

  19. Fewer drum loops, not no drum loops. The difference is that Forever Now blends drum loops really well – no issue.

In ‘Sirens’ the loops are too dominant in my view. It’s still a great track and a great Ep.

For real negativity and 25 years of grieving try the ‘other’ web site. That’ll really cheese you off! 😉

  20. It`s still a great track and a great Ep.??. by your pen. With the loops in, it is that which you have stated, the artist has used the canvas and colours in his mind, to offer that which he knows can`t be done. Others see a rock, and others see a masterpiece. Negativity as with Beauty is in the eye and ear of the beholder. And as for negativity, only the foolish deny it is all around us, as is love. and to finish off , Bah, Humbug!!, and have a lovely Christmas,

  21. Oh Mr davidrault that’s a shame. What are you listening to it on? polystyrene cups and string? It’s funky, it’s groovy, infectious and full of fantastic hooks. As for the production, try cranking it up son…sounds great to me! As for PRB – if you can’t hear him in there then maybe you purchased a different album? Never mind you can’t please all of the people all of the time…I for one think….

    IT’S BOOMIN MARVELLOUS….WOO HOOOOO!

    WE WANT MORE….

  22. Oh dear mr davidrault – I forgot to add. You clearly missed the Studio 54/Disco dance vibe/70′ 80’s connection….hence the style of the cover? Come on man…cheer up.

  23. cager, hear, hear, well done man, well done, what the funk are the neggies on about? get with the programme folks, its just life passing through your plans. love to all, in a peaceful world of course…

  24. Now now boys and girls. Surely our major cause for concern is Mark King’s stupid hat!
What’s that all about? Looks like a morris dancer!
    I blame Larry Graham………………………..

  25. yer the hats not a cool look, gotta be honest, but that’s funk and roll, says me with me level 42 underpants and matching socks, I blame me mum

  26. Any news on a re-issue to get rid off the distortion????

‘Mind on you’ with it’s tinitus sections in the later stages really spoils the vibe when it’s blaring through my cans!!!

  27. I don’t experience any distortion, anywhere. You might want to play with your EQ? I crank mine up and it sounds deeper than the ocean…nice.

  28. He’s carrying that damned Morris dancer’s hat he suddenly thinks looks ‘funky’?
    Somebody tell him, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaase!!!!!

  29. Cager, Must be the string tied to a tin can you are listening to it through then if you can’t hear it as its there… on both the digital downloads via amazon, listened to on 3 different PCs, my iphone and on the CD, listened to on my main sound system, my boombox and in the car…

And I’m not the first to query it!

  30. Brilliant tunes, best band in the world and we can still go and see them. New music and a tour in 11 months (and counting)so stop bloody moaning and appreciate Level 42 and hope we have them for years to come.x

  31. Hey All! So sorry Alan for the late arrival, its taken me from the time I received my CD to now to read through everyone’s comments lol!
So, im sorry guys, I get everyone’s opinions and completely respect the views of those who understand music professionally and in a detail that I will never be lucky enough to…BUT I LOVE IT!!
My fav keeps changing, think My Independence Day is pipping the others to the post, but closely followed by Where’s Yo’ Head At? – anything I can dance around to by Level is up there with the best for me! Id love these tracks if they were instrumental, I think thats the key with their music, its so versatile.
Looking forward to hearing these tracks Live again, BRING ON THE TOUR!!
    Love to all LevelHeads

  32. Does anyone know the credits on the EP? I’d like to know who wrote the words and music. My guess is that Mark wrote 90% but I’m interested to see if Mike or PRB, in particular, contributed

    Thanks

  33. It’s true that the songs are lyrically light but it seems to be the way with current dance songs – obvious examples are ‘get lucky’ and rudimental. Top tunes.

  34. And her titties look like mine, only mine are slightly larger. ..

Lyrics don’t bother me at all. . If the music’s good that’ll do for me. ..

Also I happen to think the “light” lyrics works with the style of tunes on this ep

  35. hello every one, i hope “Are you ok”, hi Sammy, good to hear that posa tivity, it really is simple. Mark and Mike, Nathan, Sean, and Pete, are an amazingly tight band live, anyone who has had the privelage to see them live knows this, my family do, iv`e taken them all to see them, they we`re blown away, and totally got what this mad LFT nutter has been going on about,, The point i`m trying to make is, LFT Are Amazing whatever they do,. I`m sorry, no insult intended, but you audio/lyric/spelling perfectionists are in a minority, this is a great album, and it sounds great,, Michael Jackson`s latterday public Antics, Gave Any Sensible person cause for doubt, but the music was undeniable,. Not that wearing a hat bears the slightest similarity to MJ, But consider the music, is a hat that important to you, A Rhetorical??,(see previous statement), … …LFT`s journey has been their own, and we have been privelaged to be the recipient of the wide and varied unequalled delights on offer,. The clock is ticking for everyone,, Try and enjoy the dance, And, Take care of yourself.

  36. I don’t like it, well I like Sirens, but I don’t like the rest of it very much. But before I get lynched I am a HUGE L42 fan, have been since the early 80’s but that doesn’t mean I am letting them down if I don’t like every single track they ever did or do. I will love them forever and go and see them, I already have my tickets for next October. I am sure the boys have other bands they really like but probably do not like EVERYTHING that band does. To love everything they do does not make one fan better than another.

    Over and out Levelhounds!!

BTW MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL.

    Jan, Bristol xxxx

  37. I don’t like the album ! i fan of level 42 !I saw all the concerts in Europe since 2006 ! but sirens album is very bad ! sorry

  38. I was listening to the Donna Summer song, “State of Independence” because of the recent Quincy Jones comments about Michael Jackson lifting the essence of that song for “Billie Jean.” The notes are definitely there just much faster than in Billie Jean. It’s the intro bass line from Billie, and unmistakable. As the song unfolded I realized I was hearing strains of “My Independence Day,” so @Mastitis Warrior you are correct. The boys definitely found inspiration from Donna’s old hit, including the name of the track. “My Independence Day” is a sublime, slow-funkin’ groovy tune though despite it’s derivativity.

Been a dedicated fan of the boys since 1986 when I first saw them perform Something About You on Top of the Pops!
